SERVE IT UP
If you're going to spring for one women's tennis event this year, the Billie Jean King Cup should be it—the first time for women's tennis at the Garden in nine years in honor of the 39-time Grand Slam Champion and all-around hero, Billie Jean King. Current world #1 Jelena Jankovic, 2008 French Open champion Ana Ivanovic, 2008 U.S. Open champion Serena Williams, and 2008 Wimbledon champion Venus Williams square off in two one-set semifinal matches to qualify for the best-of-three-set final. The event, which benefits the Dream Vaccines Foundation, will also feature a special tribute to women's sports. The tennis games starts at 7:30, but if you get there an hour early, you can see the pre-match hospitality function with Billie Jean herself, Ivan Lendl, and other celebrities. As we go to press, the tickets at Ticketmaster are pricey, but StubHub has lots of options at $60 and up.
