SILENCE IS GOLDEN
Selling out shows wherever they go, the experimental Dublin-based musical ensemble 3epkano have earned a loyal following for sprucing up silent-film classics with beautiful and haunting original scores. Tonight, they return to BAM to add some of their unique aural magic to German expressionist F.W. Murnaus Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans. Considered to be one of the finest silent movies ever made and the winner of three Academy Awards, the 1927 film tells the cautionary tale of a farmer and his wife (played by George OBrien and Janet Gaynor) nearly torn apart by the temptations of the big city. The film will be followed by an after-party sponsored by The Onion. Cant catch this performance? See 3epkano at Walter Reade for a screening of Paul Lenis The Cat and the Canary (1927) on July 18.
