Nachos NY, a blog that hunts down and reviews all the best nachos across the city and was probably one of those rare drunkenly conceived ideas that actually turned out to be brilliant and marketable, is bringing back Salsa Slam for its second year. A spin-off of the successful Guactacular, the event dares amateur chefs to whip up their best salsa, whether it’s from a generations-old family recipe book or thought up the night before and filled with weird ingredients. Attendees can sample 20 of these homemade salsas and vote for their favorites, and the winners receive cash and cooking supplies. Music by DJ Seek Ten, drinks at a discount by Brooklyn Brewery, and chips for dipping by Food Should Taste Good.
