It's easy to forget that Snoop is also the reason "dogg" is now a widespread colloquial term of endearment; in the end, this might prove an even more enduring cultural contribution than his influence on hip-hop. But about that: The brutal bass lines on Doggystyle are still primal portals back to the golden age of gangsta rap, and though his more recent material shines noticeably brighter with the Neptunes at the helm, his voice remains deliciously greasy throughout.
