Split Lip Rayfield
Pioneers of the apparent genre of "cowpunk," Wichita, Kansas outfit Split Lip Rayfield have been doing it live for over ten years, even after the loss of chief songwriter and vocalist Kirk Rundstrom to esophageal cancer in 2006. Known for giving their acoustic songs a visceral heavy metal feel, thrash-grassers everywhere owe their debt to SLP's blend of pastoralism and punky irreverence. Hollywood biopic producers should also take note. With Auctioneers.
