SQUALL IN THE FAMILY
Rocking out with Mom isnt something most of us ever hope to do. But Dominick Fernow (a/k/a NYC noize luminary Prurient) doesnt seem to mind. His mom is poet and Wisconsin Public Radios distinguished senior broadcaster Jean Feraca, whose works are often incorporated into his howling, brutally frank feedback vivisections. Tonight, at this reading of her recent memoir, I Hear Voices: A Memoir of Love, Death and the Radio, the two will do a rare performance together, with Prurient providing a tortured synth underbelly to accompany Feracas chapter about the life and death of her brother, Stephen, the brilliant but troubled anthropologist who left home to be adopted into the Lakota Sioux tribe. Mother and son were both changed forever after Stephens battle with lung cancer, and together, they will create an unforgettable, chillingly personal elegy.
