While we theater geeks may think Battle of the Bards would also be a pretty cool game for the Wii, were much happier to play along with the real-life celebrity judges at this fourth annual event: Pulitzer Prizewinning playwrights Suzan-Lori Parks and David Auburn, Mad Men star John Slattery, and Tony-nominated actor Daniel Sunjata. Right now, seven theater companies (including the Obie-winning Ma-Yi Theater Company and Partial Comfort Productions, which is hosting the event as a benefit) are putting the finishing touches on their 10-minute one-act play that they were given two weeks to create from scratch. And to make it even more challenging, all had to incorporate the use of a mystery prop hand-picked by Speed-the-Plow star William H. Macy (a Jeremy Piven voodoo doll, perhaps?).
