Instead of watching Christmas classics on the small screen, today two great movie theaters are screening new 35mm prints of our holiday favorites. First, head to Film Forum to catch a matinee of Miracle on 34th Street, George Seaton’s 1947 story of a white-bearded man who claims he’s the real St. Nick. Then, run over to the nearby IFC Center for It’s a Wonderful Life, Frank Capra’s 1946 drama about a man who loses all hope on Christmas Eve, starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. And for Capra devotees, Mary Owen, daughter of Reed, will make appearances at the 7 p.m. screenings on December 21, 22, and 24.
Sun., Dec. 25, 11:15 a.m., 1:40, 4:15, 7 & 9:40 p.m., 2011
