Dir. Frank Borzage (1928). Life is tough but poetic in the elaborate studio Naples built for this typically romantic Borzage silent. The transfixing effect of the gorgeous, quasi-expressionist mise-en-scene and expressively fluid camera work is undermined slightly by the canned, "O Sole Mio" score dictated by the coming of sound.
Wednesdays-Fridays, 1:30 p.m. Starts: March 31. Continues through April 2, 2010
