The amazing, three-person GrooveLily (electric violinist Valerie Vigoda, keyboardist Brendan Milburn, drummer Gene Lewin) return from a three-year absence to revive their extremely creative, extraordinarily moving pop-rock adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s “Little Match Girl” with contemporary overlay. The story, of course, is the one about the waif who couldn’t sell her wares on New Year’s Eve and has to strike those precious matches to keep herself warm. Fortunately, her circumstances improve and the tissues return to the pockets of the audience members. And for what it's worth, Tony-winning Rachel Sheinkin joined Vigoda and Milburn on the skillful adaptation.
