SURREAL MELTING POT
Chicken jokes, roller skaters, Life cereal . . . put those elements together and they don't make much sense. But in Charles L. Mee's bobrauschenbergamerica, a multidisciplinary "collage-montage tribute" to the late artist, they add up beautifully. Last seen in New York at BAM's Next Wave Festival in 2003, this rollicking production is getting a revival courtesy of director Anne Bogart and SITI Company at Dance Theater Workshop. A madcap series of joyful vignettes, the work also features waltzes, square dancing, and the making of a human-size martini. Sounds just like America to us.
