Sunlight streams through a lush, green forest. In the distance, a pack of natives wades through the underbrush in search of nourishment. Before you ask, yes, this is still New York City in the year 2012. And no, the bath salt zombies have not yet caused a mass exodus to the forest. What you see is Slow U’s Foraging in Prospect Park with extreme locavore Leda Meredith. In this afternoon excursion, you can leave your Twitter behind and enjoy the real-life twittering of birds and insects. Meredith will show you what you can find to eat by visiting your local park, with a tasting of the foraged food and a selection of handcrafted beers to follow at the Slow Food New York’s “Snail of Approval”–winning restaurant, Beer Table. All proceeds from this event will go to Slow Food NYC, including the Urban Harvest program.
