After singing lead on difficult tracks by British bass producers SBTRKT and Joker, south London’s Jessie Ware scored one of last year’s surprise hits with August’s Devotion LP. Although she can sing the lights out, Ware is best when she relaxes into the beat, earning comparisons to another Brit, r&b star Sade, with tracks like “Running”and “Sweet Talk.” As a critically adored, self-confident dance singer from across the pond, she was to 2012 what Katy B was to 2011.
