Some people will do anything for free alcohol. Take unemployed brothers Bob and Doug McKenzie who place a live mouse in a beer bottle and attempt to blackmail a liquor store owner into giving them free beer. Who would think up such a scheme? Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas, of course. The fun-loving weirdos from Toronto’s the Second City sketch comedy troupe jointly directed Strange Brew (1983), in which they star as two regular guys trying to take down Brewmeister Smith (Max von Sydow), a super-evil man who plans to brainwash all of Canada with tainted beer. Will these boneheaded Canucks save all the beer-chuggin’ folks? Find out tonight when it comes to the big screen at BAM.
