TEEN are a band nettled with contradictions, the first of which being Kristina "Teeny" Lieberson, her sisters Katherine, Lizzie and their bassist Boshra AlSaadi are all grown women. But the band's ability to jam in and out of R&B, indie pop and twee is marked by the kind of brazen, unwitting innocence that's a hallmark of teenagers. Their latest record is titled The Way and Color, and it tilts the band toward brighter, harmony-whorled compositions that start in one place and end up somewhere entirely different. Expect carefully constructed pop that is mindful of itself amid dizzying arrays of synths and sporadic beats, but that's anything but adolescent.
