Terence Blanchard Quintet
Just back from Grammyville with an award for a very hip solo, the trumpeter's got people buzzing. His essaying of the blues with Jeff Watts at (le) Poisson Rouge last month was demonstrative and daunting. When Blanchard wants to let it rip, there's plenty of material to be torn up. His working band is a feisty little outfit, and if they dodge the extended laments of his Katrina tunes, there's bound to be plenty of crackle in the cellar.
