The Babies+Alex Bleeker and the Freaks
Real Estate bassist Alex Bleeker’s solo offshoot edges closer to Neil Young–ish freewheeling folk than the surf-meets-psych-rock his main squad usually generates. Although there’s still the near-murmured vocals and hazy sheen you’d expect from Bleeker’s partners in lo-fi Martin Courtney and Matt Mondanile, the melodies now have a campfire quality that adds a new layer to the nostalgic pop we’ve come to expect.
