THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT
To shed light on the endangered habitat of the monarch butterfly, Mexican fashion photographer Guillermo de Zamacona's new exhibit Project Monarch captures statuesque models in Mariposa Monarca Biosphere Reserve in Michoacan, Mexico, where monarchs make their annual migration. This delicate environment has been threatened by the increasing deforestation of the area where they hibernate, changing the course of their migration and depleting the population, which, as The Washington Post recently reported, can change our weather system dramatically. De Zamacona hopes that by putting models in beautiful clothes surrounded by these fragile winged beauties, he can bring awareness to this worthy cause.
