Southern California's Donkeys revive the late-'60s country-rock of Neil Young, Poco, and later-period Byrds with laid-back harmonies and blissfully taciturn riffs. Their new Born With Stripes, though, often seems to split the difference between the country Stones of Sticky Fingers and Their Satanic Majesties Requests. Local quintet Snowmine sport unabashedly sentimental tunes, neoclassical aspirations, and the chops to pull it all off. With This Frontier Needs Heroes.
