If you think that the Giraffes are some twee collective straight outta Bushwick, think again. Turns out the band is comprised of four bloodstained veterans of the Williamsburg hardcore scene named Statutory Ape, Dick Viscous, Aaron LeCar, and Eliot Spritzer (cute!), who have been crafting their driving, guttural rock songs since 1996. There are shades of Motorhead and Hot Water Music, so see the Giraffes play tonight in usual form: heavily intoxicated, with a penchant for throwing beer bottles into the audience. It's going to be hard day's night. With Freshkills.
