THE KID IS All RIGHT

The late tap master Gregory Hines once called Savion Glover “possibly the best tap dancer that ever lived.” Since his first appearance on Broadway in 1985, when he was 12 (in The Tap Dance Kid), Glover’s been astonishing spectators with his power and control; he considers himself a jazz musician and often performs in clubs with bands. Watching him grow up in public, morphing from a diffident kid into an elegant artist and skilled teacher, has been a constant pleasure. For this three-week gig, titled simply he’s joined by Marshall Davis Jr., Mari Fujibayashi, Keitaro Hosokawa, and Olivia Rosenkrantz in more than an hour of dancing, aimed at expanding the traditional tap vocabulary and taking the audience on a spiritual journey.
Mondays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: June 26. Continues through July 12, 2014
