The Punch Brothers
The Punch Brothers aren't actually related, but they have the psychic cohesiveness of a bluegrass family band: Their recent release, Who's Feeling Young Now, offers a frank exploration of heartbreak, melancholy, and unrequited love, with the warmth and bounce that wistful nostalgia sometimes gives these things. But through the ostensible bitterness and cautious pessimism of tracks like "Patchwork Girlfriend" and "Don't Get Married Without Me," the restless spirit remains, with irrepressible frontman Chris Thile effortlessly tearing it up on mandolin.
