THE RING OF FIRE . . .
If you want to celebrate the birth of the Man in Black, but the recent behavior of actor Joaquin Phoenix has made you too uncomfortable to pop in your copy of Walk the Line, head to Brooklyn for the Johnny Cash 77th Birthday Bash. Brooklyn Country Music songster Alex Battles and his band the Whisky Rebellion will headline the show with a full rendition of "At San Quentin," a live concert Cash recorded 40 years ago at San Quentin State Prison. "Every year, I try to plan a party that is not only a celebration of Johnny Cash's life and work, but also a party I imagine he'd have fun at if he were still with us," Battles says. And every year, the show is sold out.
