THE SHORT VERSES
No more of his hottie wife means more time to kick literary ass for Salman Rushdie, who hosts tonights launch party for The Best American Short Stories 2008, of which he is the guest editor. Here, Rushdie discusses two of his most intriguing selections: Tobias Wolffs Bible, about an Arab father who abducts his lazy sons teacher in the hopes that she wont expel him for cheating; and Kevin Brockmeiers The Year of Silence, which questions how humans would react to a world void of noisemoments of complete silence where the only sound is that of their own breathing. Broadway stars Anthony Rapp and Blair Brown perform the two choice picks respectively.
