The Soft Skin
Dir. Francois Truffaut (1964). Truffauts fourth feature has never gotten much respect, even though this domestic suspense film on the agony and ecstasy of an extramarital affair is one of his best. The central section is almost too nightmarish to be funny as, having orchestrated a weekend getaway, the hapless adulterer is obliged to conceal his young mistress (gorgeous Francoise Dorléac) from his tiresome hosts.
