The story of a carpenter who finds himself teaching his trade to the teenage boy responsible for his own sons death, is a masterfully rough-hewn piece of worka spiritual drama as visceral as it is conceptual. Honest craftsmen, the Dardennes construct their set-up for considerable suspense. The Son requires a measure of faith and it repays that trust.
