The Strange Love of Molly Louvain
Dir. Michael Curtiz (1932).
In this "mature melodrama"meaning there's lots of pre-Code activitypoor orphaned Ann Dvorak is a woman caught in a situation similiar to the misfortune of the mother who abandoned her. Leslie Fenton (Ann's real-life husband at the time) is fine as a sleazy racketeer, but it's fast-talking Lee Tracy who steals the show as a cynical journalist who falls for the lady.
