Hearts-on-their-sleeves indie rockers the Thermals take it a bit slower on fifth album, Personal Life, released last month. Frontman Hutch Harris somehow sounds even more confessional than usual, singing about breaking hearts and his own broken heart. Of course, none of that will matter when they play tonight, since the Thermals always seem to play with the euphoric abandon of a three-year-old on a sugar high. This energy caused the Bowery Ballroom to turn into a massive, undulating mosh pit when the band played there before. Who knows if Irving Plaza can handle this? With Cymbals Eat Guitars.
