The Whitest Boy Alive
If you're going to blaze on 4/20, at least attend this snappy Euro-pop concert featuring a band from Berlin that boasts a song called "Burning." Obligatory joke aside, the real pleasure is in hearing Kings of Convenience singer Erlend Oye's gloom-syrup vocals set to a minimalist funk soundtrack of house band percussion, Fender Rhodes keys, and down-low bass lines. While last year's Rules beguiled critics with its "zero flab" credentials, here's funky for the decidedly un-funky. Take that as you may.
