Bug-phobes beware: A giant tick will be selling raffle tickets tonight at Dixon Place. No, it's not a far-fetched outreach effort to diversify the theater community. It's Nikole's Tick Parade, a variety show benefiting the young playwright and performer Nikole Beckwith, who was diagnosed with Lyme disease last July but has yet to undergo treatment due to insurance snafus. Beckwith was in Josh Conkel's MilkMilkLemonade last fall and is a member of EST's Youngblood, the Public Theater's Emerging Writers Group, and the Story Pirates. She reached into her Rolodex to staff the benefit, which features everyone from Eric Bogosian and America's Got Talent's Sizzle Twins to performers from Fela! and Mamma Mia!, and a clown shaping balloons into Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria that causes Lyme Disease. Tick-tinis and Lyme Rickeys will be available at the bar.
