Tim Burtons The Nightmare Before Christmas
Dir. Henry Selick (1993).
Conceived by Tim Burton, executed by Henry Selick, this stop-motion puppet opera is inventive, witty, brilliantly designed, fantastically labor intensive, and detail well past the point of obsession. One would have to go back to Disneys Pinocchio to find a Hollywood animated feature with an imaginary world so fully projected and densely populated.
