TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY?
Lauren Ambrose, Sam Waterston, Margaret Colin, Andre Braugher, with Michael Stuhlbarg in the title role—the Public Theater has put together another star-studded Shakespearean summer outing with Hamlet, and the age-old question of what one has to do to land a coveted free ticket is back on everyone’s mind. With construction closing its downtown box office, the Public has joined the Internet age with a Web-based “virtual line”—you can enter your name on their website starting from midnight on the day of the show; the random winners will be posted at 1 p.m. Diehard line geeks can still stand all day outside the Delacorte Theater for tickets, but if you want a sure thing, you’re gonna pay: Joining the Public as a “Summer Supporter” gets you a reserved seat for $160.
