The Brooklyn Museum is ringing in the New Year by celebrating the transformative power a change in calendar digits can have on a person at the first Target First Saturdays of 2010. Such transformations could include becoming a good dancer (Stepping Out Studios is providing waltz lessons before a masquerade ball), becoming a rock star (at karaoke), or becoming a woman (tonight's film screening of Hedwig & the Angry Inch is followed by a performance of its tunes by a groupie group called Midnight Checkout Queens). Also on the bill is writer John Sellers, who discusses his book Perfect From Now On: How Indie Rock Saved My Life, the Latin punk band Cordero, and New York Night Train DJ Jonathan Toubin capping off the festivities with a rock-and-soul dance party.
