In 1620, Pilgrims embarked on the Mayflower and sailed across the Atlantic in search of religious freedom. In 2009, a different set of pilgrims will embark on a quest through Gowanus, Park Slope, and Carroll Gardens in search of cash prizes and gift certificates. While the aim might not be quite as lofty, the Great Gowanus Pilgrimage Pre-Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt will honor those 17th-century ancestors by sending small teams on a scavenging pilgrimage throughout Brooklyn, fueled by free shots along the route. Pilgrims can earn points for prizes, like gift certificates to Brooklyn Tattoo and Bierkraft, and will also be rewarded with a post-hunt dance party. After all, you don't have to work tomorrow.
