Fuck yacht rock, let's build a canoe. Andy Cabic and Vetiver are too tasteful to fully cop the rayon vests and hirsute love affairs of the 1970s AM pop; it's not in their nature. But if they had included Bread's '70 heart murmur "Make It With You" on the 2008 covers record Thing of the Past, there'd be a few two-year-olds hanging with a babysitter tonight. Tight Knit, the Bay Area band's new album, proffers more of that medium-cool sexy; it's a lolling trip down a river, or a lazy, loving hug after a night of Falstaffs and too much wine. No strangers to the warm lights of the Bell House, Vetiver should have no trouble conjuring the cozy this time around, too. With Avi Buffalo and Inlets.
