So far, the month of April hasn’t been kind to the indie record store. Bleecker Bob’s closed its doors last weekend, and now, on Record Store Day of all days, Sound Fix (44 Berry Street, Brooklyn, 718-388-8090) is saying farewell after nearly 10 years in Williamsburg. In lieu of its usual Record Store Day in-store performances, Sound Fix is offering a massive liquidation sale with big markdowns on everything. In Manhattan, Other Music (15 East 4th Street, 212-477-8150) will have DJ sets by Parquet Courts (noon), Sharon Van Etten and Christian Schaal (1), Caleb Braaten (2), Falty DL (5), and Jonathan Toubin (7), among others, as well as limited edition Record Store Day vinyl (including an LP reissue of the White Stripes’s Elephant). Nearby Kim’s (124 First Avenue, 212-533-7390), which is opening at 8 a.m., will also have DJs starting at 11 a.m. (including Toubin and Brian Turner from WFMU) and loads of RSD exclusives you’ll want to wake up early for.
