La MaMa, the downtown institution for experimental performing arts, is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a new Monday Nights series of talks featuring a range of distinguished La MaMa alumni. For the second event in the series, La MaMa presents an evening with Meredith Monk, the composer, singer, director/choreographer who is a pioneer of “extended vocal technique” and “interdisciplinary performance.” Monk will perform excerpts from her repertoire and show performance clips from her career that spans more than four decades. John Killacky, the executive director of the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington, Vermont, moderates the talk.
