Brawny yet twee rock and country parodists who long ago transcended their own shtick, Gene and Dean Ween have managed to develop a hefty cult following almost in spite of themselves. What started out as mere stoner giggles has evolved into a big-deal alt-rock show, with Dean's gnarly funk-rock guitar an authoritative foil for Gene Ween's helium-voiced send-ups/tributes to '70s British glam and young American soul.
