One of underground metal’s most storied bands, the members of New Orleans–based sludgers Eyehategod are known for their controversial lyrics and song titles (because you usually can’t make out their lyrics), their publicized battles with drug addiction, and, of course, their deafening concerts full of feedback, swinging, Sabbath-like riffs, and vocalist Mike Williams's bloody-murder growls. The only that’s ever held them back has been themselves, as they haven’t released a new LP in over a decade. In July, though, they played a promising new song with an intriguing title: “New Orleans Is the New Vietnam.” Discuss. With Doomriders, Hull and Knight Terror.
