Sure, Bruno Mars put on a great Super Bowl halftime show, but could he have performed “Grenade” in a swimsuit? We think not. Actress and comedic singer Erin Markey, however, could sing circles around Mars, and Justin Bieber, too, for that matter, and she did so regularly as part of Our Hit Parade, the now-kaput pop-music variety show at Joe’s Pub. Tonight, the triple threat is back with “There’s a New Emergency Contact in Town,” featuring Tony-nominated Kenny Mellman (Julie Ruin, Kiki and Herb, Our Hit Parade). Her show about life in the Bible Belt includes original songs (“Psoriasis Ellen” sounds promising) as well as covers of Hall & Oates, Usher, and Jewel.
