Welcome to Roberto Klein’s (Tyrone Power Jr.) midlife crisis. He hates his job, his wife’s
pregnancy has deflated his
sex life, and he’s lusting after a vampy starlet. Also, Roberto is a South Americanborn Jew (like Venezuelan director-cowriter Katz) who feels unwelcome in his new country of the blond. That sense of exile might have added poignancy and freshness to this tired genre rehash, but the film’s wheezy New Age satire,
relationship bromides openly cribbed from talk shows, and painfully amateurish execution make it as misbegotten as its protagonist.
