Uptown they may be shiny and showy, loudly demanding attention from passersby, but down in the village of Greenwich the holiday windows sport a surpris-ingly demure air. Despite a century of high-rises and high commerce, the old streets around Bleecker and Christopher still offer storefronts stuffed with dolls and dreams, and even the neighborhood sex shop has tiny flying reindeer poised to drop miniature handcuffs down the fire escapes of naughty local residents.
