One of the cover girls of this month’s XLR8R magazine graces the city with her illustrious presence. DJ Dayhota of the Chicago-chick chic collective SuperJane pays a repeat visit to the weekly Touch party, still fresh to its new digs. Residents Billy Shane and Mike Sike do the opening honors for the female up-and-comer, whose style falls right in line with that of her Chicago cohorts: tough as nails and funky as f*ck. Friday @ 10, Shine, 285 W Broadway, 502-3532.
Brooklyn’s most notorious night welcomes a special guest, house hero and Brooklynite Frankie Feliciano, to Bang the Party. Feliciano’s induction into house music came via Lil’ Louis Vega, so it’s not surprising that Feliciano is a younger musical cousin of the house legend. He shares the decks with resident E-Man. Friday @ 11, Frank’s Lounge, 660 Fulton, Fort Greene, Brooklyn, 212-726-1322
Two new parties, two equally gross names: Piss and 2nd Hand Cunt are the new vehicles for Thomas (of Wicked) and Schrofftown Traffic (a/k/a Plexus), designed to rip the top of your head off with sonic wizardry. Thomas is known for musically hijacking the decks, throwing curveballs to your eardrums, and making you come back for more weirdness, while Mr. Plexus likes deep, minimal, slick-on-the-inside, slick-on-the-outside techno and electro. Check it out and then you can ask them, “What the hell’s up with that name?” in person. Piss: Thomas, Spencer Sweeney, Steven, Tuesday @ 10, Fun, 130 Madison, 964-0303. 2nd Hand Cunt: Plexus, John W., Smokes Jr., Thursday @ 10, Idlewild, 145 Houston, 477-5005.
Trainspotters can pick between two monster-sized bags of goodness this Saturday night: The original U.K. trip hop heads, Smith & Mighty, spin some sugar after a long absence, and mathematically inclined beatjammers Autechre make a bunch of smart noise after an even longer absence (two years and counting). The good news: Autechre are playing two shows on Friday and Saturday to help alleviate the pain you must be feeling over deciding where to party. The bad news: both Autechre shows are sold out. Whoops. Smith and Mighty, Saturday @ 10, Centro-fly, 45 W 21st, 627-7770. Autechre, Friday and Saturday @ 9:30, Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey, 533-2111.
