What should be built in the areaonce occupied by the towers? There should be a memorial park. If they do rebuild for business, it should be entirely underground so that the police can monitor who’s coming and going.

If you had the money, would you leave the city? I just moved to the city two days ago from Washington, D.C. I’m not going back, although my family was very nervous about my coming here.

How long will it take New York to return to normal? I can only speak about this week, since I just arrived. I’m looking for a job so I’m walking around a lot. I notice there are more people out on the street than there were earlier in the week, and stores that were closed are reopening.

What should be built in the area once occupied by the towers? A friend and I were just talking about this and we thought they should cast that remaining piece of the ruins in gold.

If you had the money, would you leave the city? No.

How long will it take New York to return to normal? The general routine of my life is relatively unaffected. The shadow of the incident is over us all, and it will take a while before it isn’t.

What should be built in the area once occupied by the towers? It infuriates me when I hear talk about rebuilding them. They weren’t just the center of money. They were where a lot of people suffered and died. I live in Battery Park City and I can’t, or won’t, go back. I saw everything from my window along with my husband and two children.

If you had the money, would you leave the city? No. I am trying to leave downtown, but I don’t think any place is safe.

How long will it take New York to return to normal? What is normal? I know that I can’t live my life as it was.

What should be built in the area once occupied by the towers? A friend of mine had what I thought was a good idea, which was a nighttime memorial: two shafts of light representing the two towers that would be visible on the skyline when it was dark.

If you had the money, would you leave the city? No.

How long will it take New York to return to normal? I don’t know that we should go back to normal. Financially, things will return, but people have a new sense of concern for each other, a sense of our common connection.

What should be built in the area once occupied by the towers? I really think it’s premature to even be thinking about that. A lot of people need to actually see the empty space to help them understand what’s happened. I believe in the supernatural, and I think the site is very alive right now.

If you had the money, would you leave the city? No.

How long will it take New York to return to normal? People are starting to go about their lives, which means immersing yourself in what makes you “you.”

What should be built in the area once occupied by the towers? They should try to preserve the fragment of the tower that’s still standing.

If you had the money, would you leave the city? At first I considered it, but now I don’t want to go anywhere. I was supposed to fly to Jamaica tomorrow, but I canceled my tickets.

How long will it take New York to return to normal? A long time. I am trying to go back to my normal life, but a lot of things are different. You love a lot more, people are a little softer around the edges.

What should be built in the area once occupied by the towers? The towers should be rebuilt, and incorporated into the new towers should be some kind of memorial. I would be against their building a wall full of names.

If you had the money, would you leave the city? No. If another attack happens, and it’s close to Brooklyn, I’m leaving for an undisclosed location.

How long will it take New York to return to normal? I think we are getting back to normal because, I hate to say it, we live in a place where the money doesn’t stop.
