Permaculture, the new monthly party hosted by DJs and writers extraordinaire Adrienne Day and Eric Demby (known to all as the Demby-Day Experience), is bringing in Brett Dancer of Track Mode Recordings for this go-round. Dancer and his label mates channel Detroit whenever possible, with folks like Larry Heard, Alton Miller, and Theo Parrish recording for the imprint. In addition to Dancer—who miraculously runs the label out of his house in Queens—the DDX will be spinning some tech house and electro. Wednesday at 10, Plant Bar, 217 E Third, 375-9066.
Get an audiovisual massage at Roundtrip with a night of jazzy deep house and nü skool soul courtesy of Orin Walters, whom some of you might know as Afronaught. No Johnny-come-lately, he’s been making tracks for a decade, putting out releases on labels like Compost, Emotive, and his own wax imprints Mousetrap (now finito) and Bugz in the Attic. Things will chill out a bit when Minus 8 hits the decks (he’s recorded for DJ Cam’s label, if that gives you any indication). With our local king of all things eclectic, DJ Swingsett, and crazy, cool visuals courtesy of SquareSquare. Thursday at 10, Baktun, 418 W 14th, 206-1590.
Static, the party that was electro-fied before the trendies picked up on it, is moving this week to its new home over on the West Side at Filter 14. More rooms, a superior sound system, and a not-so-claustrophobic space might be a better fit for the party. This week is going to be a residents’ night (Satamile, Doomer, et al.), but next week, look out for Bot—a special Static event at Hammerstein Ballroom with the 2 lone Swordsmen. Wednesday at 10, Filter 14, 432 W 14th, 366-5680.
