Since electro is now the status quo, I’d say it’s high time for a new revival. Sorted, the retro acid-house party (“music from London, Manchester, and Chicago 1988-1992”) that had an incredibly successful debut a few months ago, is returning, thanks to the high demand. The men behind the wheels of steel, Dara and DB, both dabbled in acieeed and ‘ardkore before they became drum’n’bass fixtures. You know they’ve got the killer record collection from way back then, and they’ll surely do some damage to your eardrums. Come out and ‘ave it-pretend you’re at the Hacienda. Thursday @ 10, Bar 13, 35 E 13th, University Pl, 979-6677.
Bang the Party‘s got new digs back in their old Brooklyn neighborhood. They’ve moved shop ’round the corner from their former haunt, Frank’s Lounge, to the 667 Bar Gallery and Lounge. As usual, E-man is on cruise control, but this week’s guest had me doing a double take. Jellybean Benitez, yes that Jellybean Benitez, takes a spin on the decks. Not sure exactly what Madonna’s maestro has in mind musically, but how can you beat that for a cozy Saturday night out? Saturday @ 10, 667 Bar Gallery and Lounge, 667 Fulton, Fort Greene, Bklyn, 726-1322.
The same night in Brooklyn and just a hop, skip, and a jump away is Halcyon’s T-FENSE party, a benefit for Seeds of Peace, the organization founded by John Wallach to help children from war-torn countries break the vicious cycle. Kenny Dope provides the ear candy while designs by Adidas, Fresh Jive, and X-Large are on display (and on sale). Saturday @ 7, Halcyon, 227 Smith, Carroll Gardens, Bklyn, 718-260-9299.
