If anyone was wondering what those parties we printed last week were doing in the paper, don’t worry: So was I. We messed up and ran a three-year-old column in place of all these dandy new parties I wanted to tell you about. Whoops. OK, this time we get it right. Our own Don Rainwater will be gracing the decks, spinning acid house, Italo disco, new wave, and more, at a new gay-friendly party at Luxx. In accordance with big-is-beautiful, see the bountiful burlesque troupe the Glamazons toss their titties; also performing: Ula the Painproof Rubber Girl (I am not sure exactly what she does, but it sounds interesting, doesn’t it?) and, of course, go-go boys and girls. Thursday @ 11, Luxx, 256 Grand, Williamsburg, Bklyn, 718-599-1000.
Those who like to sit on their butt and be entertained will be wonderfully enthralled by the devious diva Jackie Beat. Ms. Beat was one of New York’s premier drag performers when she hightailed it to L.A. a few years ago. She returns 160 pounds slimmer (!!), super-svelte, and just as viciously funny as before, christening the new stage at the Marquee (next door to Marion’s Continental) in a show called “Clean Up Your Act.” Saturday @ 8 & 10, the Marquee, 356 Bowery, 539-3197.
Danny Tenaglia’s fabulous Be Yourself Fridays party turns four this week. As per usual, the New York native will be spinning a marathon set fit for an Olympian. Dan the Man goes on at midnight and continues till noon the next day. Get some rest! Friday @ 12, Arc, 6 Hubert, 981-8703.
Final reminder: Baktun closes this week. The last party will feature residents and longtime fixtures of the venue. Bid it adieu. Saturday @ 10, Baktun, 418 W 14th, 613-0900.
