Those who didn’t make it to the Winter Music Conference last week will still benefit from the record industry camping out just a few hours away. This week the WARP tour invades the most unhip space we could possibly think of, with smarty pants idm and electro by Plaid, Prefuse 73, and Andrew Weatherall (of Two Lone Swordsmen fame) filling the walls of . . . Webster Hall? The last time something semi-cool was at this place was when Larry Tee threw his Electroclash Festival. My hope is that the bridge-and-tunnelers happen upon the event, and in the midst of glitchy techno pumping through the sound system, wind up converted from Louie Devito to Aphex Twin. Wednesday @ 9, Webster Hall, 125 E 11th, 212-353-1600.
The award for the best-named DJ duo goes to DJs Are Not Rockstars—actually Princess Superstar and Alexander Technique’s new partnership. They kicked off their debut last month with the help of a rather star-studded lineup, including the illustrious Felix Tha House Cat and Junior Sanchez. Their m.o. is to play a mishmash of top 40s and hip-hop with up-to-date house, electro, and whatever else gets the booty shakin’. They get on the decks with the Scissor Sisters for this installment. Saturday @ 10, Centro-Fly, 45 W 21st, 212-627-7770.
If you haven’t been to a big rave-like event in a while, the upcoming Tronic Treatment v. Infrastructure party might satiate your longing for all-nighters, glow sticks, and heavy beats in a Brooklyn warehouse. The event is stacked with hard techno DJs like Sweden’s Adam Beyer, Traxx (of Gigolo fame), and local boys John Selway, Juan C, and Plexus, among many others. There’s a whopping three rooms to choose from, so no complaining if you’re bored. Saturday @ 9, Lunatarium, 10 Jay, DUMBO, Brooklyn, 718-813-8404.
