To begin with a cliché: When it rains, it pours. Some weeks, it’s so dry in clubland, I feel like I’m back home in Vegas. This week, though, is practically a techno-electro-idm. The snobs at Other Music are starting a monthly party at APT, with the first night featuring folks from the Canadian Avant Mutek fest-Akufen, Deadbeat, Crackhaus, and DJ Casio. Yes, you are not cool if you don’t know who they are, and don’t bother asking the Other Music peeps ’cause they will laugh in your face and you will feel so ashamed! However, I will tell you. Akufen, Deadbeat, Crackhaus, and DJ Casio are all badass minimal techno-micro house producers and DJs (the first three hail from the famed Force Inc. label—all Canucks, too). Strangely, there will be an open Moët & Chandon bar from 9 to 10 (which might be a little weird for techno folks to partake, dunno). Tuesday @ 9, APT, 413 W 13th, 212-414-4245.
Next stop on the musical merry-go-round: Legowelt, Orgue Electronique, and Bangkok Impact. Three live electro-Italo disco acts brought to you by the Crème Organization (Bunker Records, for you trainspotters), plus DJ TLR, boss of La Crème. No fake electro-trash here, thank the high heavens. Unfortunately, you will have to go to Pianos. Sigh. Wednesday @ 10, Pianos, 158 Ludlow, 212-505-3733.
More low-key, but no less lovely, is the strangely named new tekno partay Muzzy over in Williamsburg. This week, you lucky devils will be privy to the great Stewart Walker’s dubby, minimal beautiful noises. Mr. Walker plays with Persona’s Greg Shiff. Why, I might actually leave the house for this one! Thursday @ 11, LUXX, 256 Grand, Bklyn, 718-599-1000.
