If it takes getting soaking wet and being flung around against your will by a trapeze artist to see Stacey Pullen, then I’ll do it. Of course, I’d go to the moon for the Detroit DJ, who is hard to catch in NYC and who’s one of my favorite techno DJs, like, ever. He’s playing at De La Guarda for the DJ Connection series this week, so bring your raincoat and brave the storm to hear Mr. Pullen (who—as far as I know—is not playing elsewhere) before the show and in between sets. Thursday @ 8, Daryl Roth Theatre, 20 Union Sq E, 212-947-8844.
GBH has been throwing serious weight behind its bookings lately—with a month of strong headliners preceding this week’s special guest, Felix Da Housecat, who is presumably spinning in between working on the new P. Diddy record, much of which is being produced by Felix himself. In the meantime, the man is ready to partay, and I’ll hazard a guess that some ’80s, electro, and New York rock records will find themselves among the house music. Friday @10, Centro-Fly, 45 W 21st, 212-627-7770.
This week also marks a birthday of sorts for the Rock Steady Crew. The original break-dancing posse celebrates its 26th anniversary with a slew of parties, including an MC battle, a mini-film fest, a celebrity benefit basketball tournament, a fashion show, and a B-boy-B-girl battle. Appearances and performances throughout include Freddie Foxxx, Canibus, Brand Nubian, Jungle Brothers, the 5th Platoon, and many more. Go to www.rocksteadycrew.com for more information. Thursday through Sunday, various venues.
